7 Months

Today the 28th marks 7 months that I have had my sisterlocks, and I wanted to share with you guys where my hair is at right now. I purchased the nappylock tool and I am going to become a DIYer but I still plan to see my consultant so she can tell me how I am doing on my own. You guys might have probably heard about or seen my pics of my balding area, well I am happy to report that after massaging like Nihuru told me the left side seems to be coming back slowly but surely even enough that I can get some new babies as you would see in the pics. I have also been thinking about colouring my hair but the front and the back still unravels so I think I will wait until my 1yr anniversary before I colour. I still have dry scalp especially after a retightening so if any of you guys reading this knows of anything that I can do to help this let me know. I am posting this at work an the boss is looking over her comp looking at me so let me get back to doing the wages and you guys have a look see at my pics. Feel free to leave comments.

Peace

I reached the 6 month mark on the 28th of March so I thought I would show you guys how my hair is looking these days. Some show my hair in desperate need of a retightening, my bald spot which seems to be growing slooooooooooowly but surely and me freshly retightened.

Until next time. Have a blessed day.

Happy Holidays

So I had my 12 week retighting on the 20th Dec (I will be 3 mths on the 28th) and I am proud to say that my hair is coming along great. Still have the straight ends and I am learning to live with them as I have no choice at this time but I am going to be soooooo glad when they are gone. Nothing much has been going on in my life at the moment apart from being broke, but I guess so are all of you, (lol) anyway here are some pics I took few weeks ago and this morning before I left for work. I also want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year as I doubt I will be bloggin again till 2009.

More Pictures

Yea I am at work with nothing else to do. I have the camera in my bag and thought I would just post some more ramdon pics as that is all I seem to do when I am bored. When I get home I am sure there will be more LOL. The winter an me are not friends either I have been having alot of problems with dry scalp or should I say more problems:-(. What's a girl to do eh?

8 Weeks

Yea I know I have been slacking lately it is just that I haven't noticed any difference in my hair so I didn't see the point. I am now 8 weeks loced and I love it apart from the straight ends like I keep saying LOL, anyway I am not due for a retightening until 20th of December which is 8 weeks after I had my last retight. I don't know if I can go this long next time. I like to have my hair neat especially in the place where I work. I work for what people would call the foreign government and we always have diplomats coming through every now an again and as I am the receptionist everyone expects me to be the face of the company, you know how they are. So here are the latest pics. I don't see anything wrong with my hair to be quite honest apart from the fuzzies but that is to be expected right?

1 Month & Week5

I don't have much to say as I am at work and the first person I saw in this office this morning just pissed me right off, I didn't even get to say good morning properly, in fact come to think of it I don't think I said morning at all. Oh well, I am just in one of those funky moods right now, but I did want to post pics of where my hair is at these days. I had my follow up appointment on the 1st Nov, and was told my hair is doing well, apart from the slippage around the edges which was to be expected, yay me!!! I now have my next appointment for 8 weeks time and I hope I will be able to last that long, I prefer the neat, manicured look sometimes. My consultant also said she will see about cutting off some of my straight ends which for me is also a plus. Anyway here are some pics. I am off to plot on doing something horrible to this man.

I came home this evening and what was waiting for me? My tomika twist, I am so excited to try these out, yes these cause I purchased 3 of them. Yay, stay posted for pics to come.

327 Locs????

Okay so in my last post I said that I counted 327 locs and the lovely ladies that read my blog commented that I didn't have enough locks from them to be considered sisterlocks, so I thought I would explain why I have so "little" amount of locks and maybe everyone will understand!! First off I am not trying to offend anyone I appreciate all the comments and I know that everyone is just trying to look out for me so here goes.
About 11yrs ago I went to a hairdresser who thought it would be best for me to shave the back of my head so it can catch back itself (it was breaking from me pulling it in one everyday religiously), so she borrowed a shaver from the barber's section of the shop (it was divided into a salon/barber's) and shaved the back of my head (pics will be posted after this so you get the gist of it)anyway the back has never grown back hence the reason for the amount of locs that I have. There is just no hair in the back to loc, maybe in time the back will catch back itself but I doubt it very much.Anyway here are the pics.

Other that my hair is just doing what it wants to do and I am leaving it alone. I am still not feeling the straight ends and would like my hair to actually look like I have locs and not like I put my finger in a light socket. I know it takes patience and believe me there was a time that I actually had the comb in my hand to comb them out but I wised up real quick. I will keep you guys posted on my journey. I am due to have my follow up on the 1st November an I will be 5 weeks into this journey. The left side of my hair has come out completely but its cool not bothered about the slippage there just the general look. Keep following me ladies it can only get better!!

Peace

1 Week and first wash!!!

Yup, I made it to one week and there have been days when I felt like crying cause I am not really liking how my hair looks. I know that it is not always going to look like this and this is a journey but you always hear people saying they liked their hair from day one and that is not the case for me. I don't regret doing it and I won't take them out I guess I just expected something completely different. I tried perm rods the 2nd day I had my sisterlocks installed but because the curls didn't last long at all I think I will be giving that a miss until I gain some length. My first week was so so, I had mad itching it reminded me of when I used to braid my hair and have to take dem out a week later because of the itching. But with my sisterlocks I had to endure that itching cause there is no way that I am going to be touching these. So far my "colleagues" at work have been some what ok I suppose. Two people asked me if my hair was finished I gave no comment, and the rest just said nothing ( i guess if you don't have anything good to say don't say anything at all), but my girl Molasses (is what I am going to call her) was excited and couldn't wait to see me in the flesh (i had posted pics on fotki). She started her traditional loc journey over the weekend, I am still awaiting photos. Anyway back to me, The itching an the fact that I still have straight ends are the only problems that I have. I have been spritzing my hair with lavender eo and water morning an night and that helps for all of 5 mins or so and I was wondering if I can do it as regular as I wanted too?? Anyone reading this that has the answer for me please feel free to leave your comments.

I braided and banded my hair Friday night so that I could have an early start with my wash on Saturday, but the rain fell and when the rain falls it is kinda hard for me to even want to move out of my bed so I ended up washing my hair yesterday instead. I have some slippage around the temple on my left side and of course at the nape but that is about it. In the last pic it shows I have a lock that has a space in the middle of the loc and that is just one of them I have a few like this all over my head, is this normal or should I be calling my consultant to complain. I am not due for a retight till 1st Nov. After I washed it I took out the bands seperated the locs an at the same time I decided to count them. I have a head of 327 locs give or take cause I am sure I counted one or two twice. Another question I have is do you wait for the hair to dry before you seperate or while it is wet?

Thanks for walking with me on this journey and I hope you continue to do so.

Styling???

Because I still have some relaxed ends, I wanted to try something a little different. I know you shouldn't be doing much with the hair so soon, but my hair was sticking all over the place. I had ordered some perm rods and after getting over the migraine I had after the install I decided to try them out. The curls didn't last long at all. I wonder how long I have to wait before I can get rid of the straight ends? Anyway pics show me with the rods in and the end result.Enjoy.

Monday, 29 September 2008

So I finally went an got my sisterlocks installed on 28th Sept. It took 9 hrs and I don't know how many locks I have I will have to wait until they get longer before I count them but I am so excited. It was fun, my consultant is a very cool person. I am not a very talkative person so I am sure she was bored with just doing my head with not much talkin but the time went really quickly I was just like a day in the office I suppose. Anyway here are some pics we took at the end. Hope you like and please feel free to leave your comments

On my Way

This is my first entry and I am really not to good at this blogging thing so I beg you, be patient with me on this. I was due to have my sisterlocks installed on the 7th of Sept but because of financial reasons I had to cancel my appointment to the 28th of September and I am really excited. I have been wanting to get locks for a while but last year when I went to a loctician he informed me that my hair was not nappy enough needless to say I was bumed I went off the idea for a little while and went an got my hair braided which lasted for all of 2 weeks before those bad boys had to come out cause they were itching like A BITCH. Anyway after taking out the braids I proceeded to go an get my hair relaxed and blow dried. I did that for 2 months before I decided you know what I am fed up wid the burns and the flat iron my hair deserves better than this so I refused to go back to the hairdresser and I have been embracing my nappy hair since March 2008. Now I am counting down to the day when I can finally say I am freeeee!!! Keep following me on this journey and I promise to get better at the blogging thing.

Peace
